Special course recommendations for Finance Club students
If at all possible, take the honors version of 3040, finance 3041, in the spring of your sophomore year. Note that this class is available to qualified students even if you are not in upper division.
Take Finance 5010 (otherwise known as "the Goldman class" in the spring of your sophomore year. Although the class will NOT count as a finance elective, it will expose you to a board range of careers in finance and possibly give you some networking opportunities.
Take honors valuation (finance 4211) in the fall of your junior year. With the 3041 and 4211 classes, you should be prepared for a good internship.
Find a significant internship either during your junior year or in the summer between your junior and senior years.
If you are interested in investing, apply for the student managed portfolio class in the spring of your sophomore or junior year. This will give you something to talk about in interviews and also offers some networking opportunities. The class meets both fall and spring semesters, so plan ahead.
If working in New York appeals to you, apply for the Week on Wall Street trip in the spring of either your sophomore or junior year.
Take some additional accounting classes. We especially recommend accounting 5610 (fall semester) and 5620 (spring semester).
Consider moving some of the easier distribution classes to your senior year when you are looking for a job.
The Financial Modeling elective will help you develop relevant Excel skills.
