Finance Club history
In the spring of 2004, a group of students and alumni formed the Top Jobs Finance Honor Society for students at the University of Utah seeking nationally competitive positions in finance and management consulting. The group began holding weekly meetings in the fall of 2006. At our weekly meetings, students take turns researching and presenting information on different careers and on the job search process. We also host speakers in finance-related fields to learn about the wide range of career opportunities and to begin building professional networks. In March 2007, we hosted our first Career Conference, which brought alumni from all over the country to spend a day with students. In 2010, we changed our name to the Finance Club.
From its inception, the club has worked to prepare students to excel in the world of finance. Through our collaboration with alumni and other business professionals, we are finding new opportunities for our members. In our first three years, we placed students in investment banking at Citigroup, CIBC, Jeffries, GP Bullhound, UBS, Harris Williams, and Bear Stearns. Members also accepted positions as equity analysts at Wells Fargo and at DA Davidson, in private equity at Credit Suisse, in consulting with Bain and Protiviti, and in venture capital at Millennium Technology Venture Partners.
We are excited as the Finance Club builds its connections in the different areas of finance to create additional opportunities for networking and career development. We hope that Finance Club alumni will continue to be resources for one another throughout their careers.
